Giving Czech Glass the Space It Deserves
Czech Art Point was founded with the aim of presenting contemporary Czech studio glass as a distinctive form of fine art and bringing it closer to collectors, art professionals, and those who are only beginning to discover the world of glass.
Czech glassmaking has an extraordinary history and an international reputation. Alongside this tradition, however, there is a vibrant contemporary scene — artists who work with glass as an artistic medium, push its boundaries, and create works capable of holding their own in both private and institutional collections.
It is this contemporary practice that lies at the heart of Czech Art Point.
Curatorial Selection Rather Than an Endless Offering
Our aim is not to present the largest possible number of works or respond to every new trend. From the breadth of contemporary production, we select artists and works that we consider artistically distinctive, exceptionally well executed, and relevant within the broader context of Czech and international glass.
The curatorial direction of Czech Art Point is led by Janka Štroblová, a curator, antiques dealer and specialist in Czech glass.
Our selection is informed not only by an understanding of contemporary practice, but also by experience of the secondary art market, historical glass, and long-term work with collectors. We therefore look at a work beyond the moment of its creation. We consider its place within the artist’s broader practice, the originality of its artistic language, the quality of its execution, and its ability to remain compelling over time.
Exhibitions and Curatorial Projects
Czech Art Point is not defined by a single exhibition format. Our programme develops around particular artists, themes and connections that we believe deserve to be explored and presented.
We organise solo exhibitions, projects bringing together different generations of glass artists, as well as thematic curatorial selections.
The programme also includes CAP selection — a curated selection of contemporary studio glass presenting a limited number of artists and works that we find particularly compelling at a given moment. CAP Selection does not follow a fixed schedule, nor is it intended to be a catalogue of new arrivals. Each edition takes shape when there is something we genuinely believe is worth presenting.
Beauty alone is not enough.
For Collectors and Those Just Beginning
We believe that collecting art does not require knowing the entire market. What matters more is gradually discovering what truly resonates with you and having access to the knowledge and context needed to make informed decisions.
Alongside our exhibitions, we therefore work individually with collectors. We help them navigate contemporary Czech glass, search for specific artists and works, and thoughtfully develop their collections over time.
We also collaborate with companies, architects and interior designers in selecting studio glass for private, corporate and public spaces.
A Space for Contemporary Czech Glass
Czech Art Point’s exhibition space is located in the heart of Prague, in the Lucerna Passage. Alongside our physical exhibitions, we also present artists and their work online, gradually building a platform that connects contemporary practice, collecting, and the broader story of Czech glass.
We do not want to show you everything.
