Beyond the Surface
When glass does not reveal everything at once
Petr Stacho is a distinctive voice in contemporary Czech studio glass.
The exhibition Beyond the Surface presents his work as a space for light, structure, form and the inner tension of the material. The title of the exhibition is therefore no coincidence. It refers to what often happens in glass only when we stop for a moment and allow the work to unfold.

About exhibition
- Petr Stacho’s studio glass: the exhibition presents a selection of works that explore glass as an independent artistic medium.
- A look beyond the first impression: Stacho’s works are not built on a quick effect. Their strength reveals itself gradually — in detail, translucency, reflection and the changing angle of view.
- Glass as an inner landscape: in some objects, glass appears almost like an enclosed space. Lines, layers and light create a sense of depth that cannot be fully captured in a photograph.
- A dialogue with space: the intimate setting of Galerie skla in the EGAP passage allows the works to be experienced up close. Each object stands as an independent sculptural work while simultaneously entering into dialogue with the light, the architecture of the passage and the movement of the viewer.
- Works available for purchase: selected works from the exhibition are available for purchase. If you are interested in a particular work, we will be happy to provide further information, confirm its availability or arrange a private viewing.
